Title: Communicate Guide
Employment: Permanent / Part time - 2 days a week
Salary: $35.71 - $38.64 per hour, plus super and NFP Salary packaging.
Location: Multiple locations across Melbourne.
Ideally, Frankston, Lara/Geelong, and Warragul regions.

 

About the role 

As a Communication Guide your role is to assist our deafblind clients access the community in the ways that they choose, provide support in their everyday lives, whilst communicating with them through Auslan, or various other methods of available deafblind communication.

The position works in consultation with our clients to identify their strengths and values and develop a range of goals.

We are looking for individuals that strive to deliver the best possible community participation and to enhance and develop the people we support, to achieve their full potential in life. 

Skills and experience required to be successful in this role:

  • Auslan skills are mandatory – (Deaf, Diploma or studying towards Diploma or CODA)
  • Available to be rostered for flexible hours/shifts, including some weekend and sleepovers.
  • Intermediate computer skills (ie: using Microsoft Outlook, documentation in a client management tool/CRM).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to write clear client case notes.
  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence
  • Reliable and registered vehicle (Able Roadworthy Assessment required) and car insurance.
  • Record of a NDIS Workers Screening Check or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Record of a current First Aid and CPR Certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of Deafblind Culture and experience working in Disability and/ age care sector is desirable
